JOB DESCRIPTION

In this aerospace design position, you will be responsible for the design, engineering, development, and certification support of 14 CFR Part 23, 25, 27, and 29 aircraft projects. Many of these projects will focus on in-house product development, providing you with cradle-to-grave experience in a fast-paced, comprehensive environment. You may also support various military and special mission projects. Your work will cover a broad range of disciplines and products for both new and existing aircraft. The scope of your projects can include parts, assemblies, installations, and full vehicles, all under the mentorship of seasoned aerospace experts who will impart nearly 4 decades of industry knowledge.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Your responsibilities will include performing aircraft, systems, and structural design, engineering, and analysis, as well as coordinating tooling fabrication, parts fabrication, and shop liaison as needed. You will also support physical testing as required. Specific tasks may involve:

- Design and engineering of components, systems, and installations, from basic to advanced concepts.

- Work throughout the full product life cycle, providing engineering certification support.

- Coordination with vendors and review of vendor engineering documents.

- Troubleshooting in production and field environments, including root cause analysis.

- Occasional physical laboratory testing and system performance verification.

- Authoring reports and documents to capture your analysis and engineering work and advance projects.

You will be responsible for executing engineering assignments in specialized fields of aerospace engineering under the oversight of senior engineers, subject matter experts, DERs, and project engineers. The position requires frequent communication with personnel across various departments, including engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, sales, and external suppliers. Some travel to customer sites, test facilities, and flight-testing locations may be necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION/SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

A BSAE or BSME (or higher) with 0-5 years of experience is required for this aerospace engineering job. You should possess a solid understanding and application of engineering principles, with the ability to comprehend aircraft structures and mechanical systems—propulsion systems, fuel systems, flight controls, hydraulics, icing, air conditioning/environmental control, landing gear, and their electrical interfaces. Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills are essential.

You must be a highly motivated self-starter, capable of coordinating and resolving issues with internal company groups, customers, and suppliers. Time management skills are crucial for handling multiple concurrent projects of varying size and scope.

A solid understanding of engineering methods and principles is required, with SolidWorks experience being desirable. Experience with CATIA V5 and simulation tools such as linear & nonlinear FEA, CFD, and CAD/CAM experience on CNC equipment (Fusion360) is helpful. Prior certification experience with Federal Aviation Regulations (14 CFR Part 23 & 25) in Mechanical Systems and/or Structures is preferred but not mandatory. Additionally, experience as an A&P mechanic, in manufacturing, or as a pilot can be beneficial. Familiarity with Matlab, including Simulink, would also be helpful. Proficiency in report writing and drafting skills is preferred.

This position will primarily be based in Grass Lake, Michigan (and the surrounding area).

Pay will be commensurate with experience and education. Some remote work options may be available for the right candidate.
